I have a mid 2008 24" iMac with 2.8 MHz CPU and 4 GB of memory. The system didn’t boot this morning only going as far as the Apple logo the complete white screen. I had replaced the hard drive and tried to install 10.7. Once it gets to the reboot the machine gets to the same place, But now I have a curser. It doesn’t go any further. I noticed on the second time reloading 10.7 that the Apple logo has four green lines going across it. All diagnostics I run show everything working normally. All four LED’s are lit on the motherboard. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your logic board has issues. This series had problems with the North Bridge chip which is why the system appears to boot up but is unable to as the South Bridge chip and the CPU are working, hence the good diagnostic LED’s.
