Mid-2015 MacBook Pro started intermittently not charging two days ago. Today it stopped charging completely. Reset SMC and NVRAM. Cleaned port and connector. Connector has slight burns on pins 2 and 4, but there are no shorts - connectivity is where it should be and not where it shouldn’t, per multimeter. Same for the port. I scraped the pins clean with a knife and cleaned it all again with a bit of alcohol. Generating ~3V at the power pins, which appears normal from what I’ve read. Adapter doesn’t light up brightly, but if I cup my hand over it, I can see the green light on (and it goes out, of course, when I remove it from power). System report says battery is normal (400 cycles). The port looked (very) slightly crooked, with one side a hair deeper than the other, so I opened the back and loosened the two screws for the port, straightened it as best I could and tightened it back up. Is there anything left to check before I just have to suck it up and take it into the shop?
I would try another MagSafe charger, make sure its a real Apple unit as some of the knockoffs will kill your systems charging logic which will be an expensive repair! I’m suspecting your current unit is a knockoff as the pitting of the connector is a sign of dangerous discharge.
