Hi There, I am a novice who, by ordering and learning from ifixit, have been able to keep our old macs alive and well. I have a new question. I have a mid 2012 15 inch macbook pro. I can see I have 2 memory slots, each of which accepts a 1600 MHz DDR3 memory module. Currently there is 8Gb installed as 2 times 4Gb. I am unsure if the article above means I can now install 8Gb in each memory slot making the total ram into 16Gb or whether I am now at full capacity. I hope you can help clear this up. Thanks for the work you do to help us save the environment. Cliff Queensland, Australia

RAM Type:PC3-12800 DDR3LMin. RAM Speed:1600 MHz Standard RAM:4 GB Maximum RAM:16 GB* To upgrade you will need to pull one or both of the 4GB sticks and replace with 8 GB sticks. You can mix the RAM size for 12GB with one 8GB stick or replace both for 16GB. Here’s how to do it: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 RAM Replacement
