I decided to replace my iphone 7 screen but when I attempted to open it, I was met with two metal plates, rather than one + the battery and cables etc. One side had obviously moved so I had to dislodge this, revealing the battery etc and I then fit the new screen. Once I did that, I was unable to get the other side attached - my phone is now split in three pieces, rather than than two, as it should be.

No matter how hard I push, I can’t seem to get it back in, nor do I want to push too hard in case I break it. The thing is, if you look at it from the top, it doesn’t look like it would even pop back in, it looks like something in the top, area the camera, would always stop it.

Perhaps there’s a particular way I need to push it or perhaps it is completely broken?

We are in a covid-19 lockdown now so all the shops are closed and I can’t go far from my home. I am phoneless, please help! I’d like to be able to talk to me family during these difficult times!

Thank you!

hello Jennifer, it looks like your refurbished screen has broken in two. Unfortunately, where a bastard from a roadside repair shop puts his fingers, honest people have to pay for it. Fortunately, the phone isn’t broken - it’s just a screen that’s fairly easy to replace at home. I have not checked it personally, but apparently the manual for replacing the screen with iFixit is quite legible for people with little repair skills to do well, so I keep my fingers crossed :-) Order a new (it doesn’t have to be expensive) screen for your phone model with a set of tools. A few plastic chopsticks, three small disposable screwdrivers, suction cup etc - a couple of dollars in total. I’m sure you can handle it :-) PS, in my opinion - replacing the phone screen yourself is no more difficult than writing a post here.

  • regards, —- aaa, you have one for replacement - now I see that :-) Try gently remove a metal plate from phone - be carefully, down there is your battery. Don’t use a knife nor some sharp. Plastic spudger should be ok.
