Hey! Do I need to replace the HD SATA cable for non-retina MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012) ?
Here’s what I do to protect that cable from damage when replacing it. The blue is plain electrical tape and the thick red is 3m extreme mounting tape. the yellow is Kapton tape.
I saw your post on a question about upgrading to a SSD. In your case, if you have a early/late 2011 MBP and are upgrading from a HDD to a SSD you should definitely consider buying a 2012 HDD cable. The 2012 HDD cable can support SSD speeds, unlike the slower 2011 cables.
