My headphone jack suddenly stopped working properly. I can get output from my machine, but no input. On top of that, my internal mic never worked properly. Question: is it possible to replace these items via a service technician without a logic board replacement?
Well… Not such an easy answer! While the headphone and microphone parts can be replaced, given what you’ve stated you may have something deeper going on here which would be related to the main logic board. I would start off replacing the headphone as there is a switch within it that could be getting into trouble
