Headset gets no volume or input from the controller or something because it only works when I push the cable into the headset extra hard and hold it there. Not sure if this is common but thats how Id describe it.
Hello, It sounds like some thin wire connecting to the speakers have broken. Jamming the cable in probably helps the broken ends connect. You can take a look at this guide here to see what it looks like inside. Repair may require some delicate soldering.
