So as the title says, every few (anywhere from 1-10) minutes there will be crackling and popping-almost like the audio is being compressed-being outputted through the headphones. It’s temporarily fixed by either pausing the video I’m watching or unplugging and then plugging in my headphones. It is not the fault of my headphones, as I have tried to see if the effect has occured on my GBA and 3DS, and neither have produced said crackling. From that I’m guessing it’s the headphone jack’s fault. Is there a way to fix this?
Did you have a liquid spill at some point? I’m thinking a film of corrosion is offering a pathway between the DAC and the power lines. Here’s a view of your logic board the Yellow marked chip is the Cirrus 4208-CRZ Two-Channel Low Power HD Audio Codec.
You’ll need to pull the logic board out and do a deep inspection on the back side under this chip as thats the likely spot you have corrosion. Take some good detailed pictures and post them here if you see any corrosion, staining or any burnt parts. Adding images to an existing question
