I was working on it and the grounding cable or something got torn off of the board and the frame around it came off halfway. I could probably solder it but this came off and i need help. not disconnected. it did not damage the board though so it may not be as bad
Ouch! You pulled off the entire connector from the logic board and looking at the image of the logic board you pulled off a few traces as well with the connector.
We might be able to run down a replacement connector but patching the logic board will take some doing. Do you have a friend or know of anyone who has deeper soldering skills as this will take that and working off of a set of schematics and boardview drawings trace back the damaged pad lines to put in the needed patch lines. While I love the look of this iMac this may end up being a costly endeavor. And given its age may not be the wisest investment.
