Hi, URGENT question…. I followed your instructions for replacing the battery. I have a MacBook Pro Retina 15” Mid 2014, Model A1398, laptop, and when I replaced the battery (correct battery (A1494 model)) for this Macbook Pro model - the laptop recognised the installed battery but would not charge it or work without power cord attached. When I followed the process to reinsert the original battery (which had a enough life in it to test the system with it back in) also came up with the same error. Have Apple put in a trip wire code in to stop us replacing batteries in newer glued in battery MacBook models at a hardware/software level??? Note on remedies attempted:

  1. Restarting the Macbook. Shutting down, waiting 10 minutes, plus holding down certain keys during shutdown/startup procedures as per some instructions - no change or success.
  2. Resetting SMC, PRAM and NVRAM - no change or success. Have screen shots of the system report if needed. Can you help to get my Macbook to work on battery again?

If I remember correctly, Apple has it set up where they are the only ones that can reset the battery life information.
