Hi, i have a honda fit 2002 model with high rpm when driving at a low speed say maybe rpm of 4000 at a speed of 80km/hr. It revs so hard i can always it. It also seem to struggle to shift to the next gear when at a speed of 75-80 because i can see the rpm rev up and down until it engages the next gear after sometime. The problem is it does not show any trouble codes or light. I have tried changing the transmission twice, cleaned the throttle and the fuel tank but no change. Kindly help what could be the problem? Thanks
have you checked the speed sensor? is the engine itself in good condition, that may have an effect a real long shot but my partner had the same issue in a corsa and it turned out the crank was bent but went unnoticed for months. hope you manage to fix it.
You may need to check your throttle position sensor or rather changer your throttle body and see if this changes had a similar issue when a bad throttle body was placed on my car for a
You may also want to check on the engine filter. A dirty one can prevent a proper airflow to the sensor.
It sounds like your engine is fine. You even said the transmission just doesn’t shift up. Changing the throttle body, the air filter or even the engine isn’t going to make the transmission shift properly. Change the engine? Are you kidding. For sure it’s because you are using the wrong brand of tires! Not really. You said you changed the transmission TWICE? I don’t believe it. Maybe you changed the transmission fluid twice although I doubt that because there’s a good chance THAT would help. When the car is supposed to shift all sorts of little valves have to slide around shifting hydraulic pressure from here to there and if they are all sludged up, they get stuck and the transmission can’t shift. Unfortunately the Fit doesn’t have a transmission pan you can take off or a transmission fluid filter, so at this point it’s going to be hard to get the sludge out, if that’s the problem. You could drain and refill it with clean Honda ATF, but that only changes about 3 quarts. Maybe a couple of changes about a week apart would help clean things up.
