My 13” MacBook Pro (A1706) suddenly shows black, horizontal, evenly spaced lines, across the entire screen, from top to bottom.

Sadly you’ve encountered a similar problem to what these folk have: Flexgate: The design flaw behind MacBook Pro’s “stage light” effect Apple’s 2018 MacBook Pros Attempt to Solve Flexgate, Without Admitting It Exists In your case the video lines have become damaged. I’m suspecting you likely has a bang on the clutch cover area which damaged it or we have a new flex failure here! You’ll need a new display assembly to fix this. Update (03/07/2019) It’s not that simple! As I stated its similar not the same! The tilting of the display won’t change things here. The point was the ribbon cables are the common element.

The outer two cables are the video. You damaged one of these. Think how a cloth is woven (X & Y). Here one of the X lines has died. In the older series the T-CON board was part of the display, in this series the T-CON board is mounted within the main case and the ribbon cables carry the singles discreetly to the display on the sides and on the top and bottom.

I encountered this problem. When the lid is not fully open, my display works perfect. But not when it is fully open, it has black horizontal lines. Is there a fix?
