Hello, so recently I had dropped my IPhone 4s, and the whole screen was cracked with random colors of flickering. I bought a new LCD screen and stuff and took the phone apart and replaced the screen. Everything was going great until I found out that the touch screen was unresponsive. I figured the ribbon cable for touch had been ripped (I thought I saw a ripped cable), so I researched a bit. I read that using mylar tape to bind it together would possibly fix the problem, however I would like to know if black electrical tape would work the same? As far as I know they have the same abilities…?
Ok. They are very easy to tear and most likely did on the sharp metal edges you have to glide the cables through when installing. I have no experience with fixing torn cables but at the price of the screens now and the chance of the cable breaking somewhere down the line i would order a new screen.
