Chosen Solution
A few hours ago I was laying in bed and watching some YouTube. I knocked an energy drink and it went directly onto the fan part of it. I tried to clean it up and I turned it off and back on, and I loaded up YouTube once more. Before I could do anything, it shut itself off. After countless attempts on trying to fix it, it just kept turning itself off. Finally, I tried turning it on just before, and it made the turning on sound, but the light didn’t turn on and it wasn’t going on my TV screen. I unplugged it all and put my Xbox in its side - it is now sitting like that. I need all tips I can get to ensure my Xbox isn’t permanently damaged. It is nighttime so I can’t get anything quickly - and I will try to read all the answers by tomorrow morning.
Treating liquid damage is like treating a stain on your favorite shirt, it needs to be addressed immediately and by attempting to turn it on multiple times, you allowed short circuits to cause damage. By the sounds of it, you’re better off replacing the whole console because repairing it will cost more than it’s worth and you most likely won’t get a warranty, at least in my repair shop. But if you really wanna try to do it yourself, find the guide to open it up. Get a toothbrush and some 99% isoprpyl rubbing alcohol. Look for any spots that have liquid damage, usually in the form of white crusty stuff around components. Don’t apply the alcohol directly to the board and components. Dip your toothbrush in the alcohol and gently scrub away the corrosion. Keep your parts organized and take lots of before and after pictures. Do this with the power unplugged of course. For any electronic that gets wet, power off and disconnect from power source if possible. If you can remove the battery, do it. Good luck!
