Hi everyone, I have a MBP mid 2009. It was running sluggish. I pulled the hard drive out and formatted it in Windows. Since I did that, I am not able to install any kind of operating system on it. I don’t even have recovery and internet recovery isn’t available on my model. What can I do to fix this? I have spent 4 days trying to figure it out. Tons of online reading. I have tried creating bootable USB’s with Mojave, Leopard, High Sierra, and El Capitan. I’m a windows person and I have no idea how to get out of this mess. Any help is welcome.

You’ll need to download a copy of the El Capitan to install it. Find a friend with a Mac to help you. as you’ll need to use his system to setup an installer thumb drive following this guide: How to make a bootable OS X 10.11 El Capitan installer drive

“I have a MBP mid 2009. It was running sluggish. I pulled the hard drive out and formatted it in Windows. “ I’m curious, why did you use Windows to reformat a Mac drive? Target disk mode to reformat this in a Mac, then as long as you find the correct OS, or Linux distro, you can reinstall an OS. Good luck.
