The battery is jammed in camera and is not holding a charge. I need to replace it but it is stuck in the camera. How do I go about removing the old battery and where can I get a new one?
I agree with bscrowe. I’ve just taken mine out following their advice:
You can see how much the sides are bulging out. Now that the battery has been removed, the SD card comes out like normal too. If you watch a video like this https://youtu.be/wUFxlf4fXjo you’ll see that you want to be VERY careful not to puncture the battery getting it out. Lithium Ion batteries are DANGEROUS to puncture!!! I managed to gently lever it up about 3-4mm with the tip of a pen knife, which was enough to grasp the top of it firmly with wide, flat ended pliers, firmly enough to drag it out, but gently enough to not crush it. Pulling it up with the knife broke the plastic case, but I was careful not to puncture the inner metal container.
I used a 7/64 drill bit to put a hole in the negative end battery. I then put in a # 8 deck screw. Using a pair of pliers I was able to get a good grip and managed to get it out. The other one came out easily.
how to remove battery?
