I have just installed a new hard drive into my iPod classic and keep getting the sad face icon coming up. i need to bring up disk mode but it refuses. can you please help me. regards Bill.
@wrx199900 make sure that you new hard drive is functioning properly. Check to make sure that your HDD cable is properly seated. Once you replace the HDD you have to reinstall the firmware. iTunes should recognize the iPod as an iPod requiring to be restored and reinstall the firmware? You did not elaborate if your computer or iTunes recognize your iPod. You can also use some firmware downloads from here so you do not entirely have to rely on iTunes downloads etc.
