While changing battery the flex cable for touch button tore. How do I fix it?

if you have limited soldering experience send it to someone for repair as its usually a repair done under a microscope with jumper wires etc

Hi Lenore, What you are describing sounds like you have just torn the cable on the screen itself—-meaning that if you buy a new screen it will have a new cable. This cable is easy to tear off, I did it myself on the first iPhone 7 I opened.

When you get a new screen, follow the iFixit iPhone 7 screen replacement guide which will show you how to transfer your home button (down at the bottom of the screen under a bracket) to the new screen. BE CAREFUL. If you tear the actual home button flex, then you’re out of luck and will have to go to Apple for a screen replacement.

I am more concerned about WHY you were changing your battery to begin with. iPhone 7 aren’t usually old enough to need a new battery.
