Chosen Solution

I bought a Backbeat FIT and after about 3 months it stopped working, it won’t turn on or anything! It still charges(the light turns on when plugged in) but won’t actually turn on! I’m frustrated because I spent $130 on headphones, 3 months later Platronics in telling me I need to pay $95 to replace it!!!

I had this same issue and after some troubleshooting I realized that the left-side earphone control (the one that allows you to play/pause) was sticky. That is, it was ‘stuck’ in pressed mode, causing all other functions to fail (like the OP stated, charging still worked). So, there’s a flakey solenoid (or something). My temp fix is to lightly tap the left earbud against something hard in the hopes that this action will dislodge it. To avoid having the button stick again, I’ve been controlling the audio via the iPhone controls (which sort of defeats the purpose of not having to retrieve the phone from one’s pocket, but hey - one thing at a time).

I thought I had the same issue. I contacted tech support and there is a tiny little clear button on the edge of the power button. Once I depressed that tiny button, it powered on. The instructions do not do a very good job of pointing this out. Hope this helps some of you guys.

I just fixed my earphone that did’t charging. The problem was in contact with the USB connector and the PCB

I bought mine about 6 months ago; expensive! Used it 3-4x and it stopped working. Worst product ever! I basically spent $130 to be disappointed! I’m furious! I charged it for 2 nights straight and the light never changed from red to blue.

I bought this Backbeat FIT too and after few months it stopped working, it won’t turn on. the light is still turns on when plugged in, but won’t actually charge. I don’t know what to do.

Class action anyone? Plantronics should replace with working and non-defective products. You can’t fix, they won’t replace. I am not a sue happy person, but paying $130 and nothing working makes me RED!

So glad I found this site. I’ve had my BackBeat FIT earbuds for 3 years now, and recently started getting the “sticky left button” issue. Until recently it was just the annoyance of the earbuds skipping my music tracks and hearing the voice repeatedly say “next track…next track.” But then last week they failed to power on, despite the battery being 100% full (blue LED after charging for a couple hours). I tried banging the left earbud on a desk a few times, then repeatedly pushed that left button until it got unstuck. Suddenly the power-on button started working and the computer voice said “battery full, headset connected.”

It is extremely hard to fix anything with this speakers, Plantronics service says it is not repairable, but… I can trot out that I have replaced one speaker from broken one my (green) with successful below picture how it looks like - very tiny :)

I bought a pair of these headphones as the ones i originally had-which were great by the way-broke. When I received the headphones, they would seemingly charge, but never complete the charge as the indicator light remained red. I returned these and ordered a new pair, but they did the same exact thing.

People, we really should start a class action for this, a petition of some sort.

I just got these yesterday let all three charge all night only 1 of them turned on do you know what’s wrong?or how to fix them?

I lost 2 of these to the same issue - worn’t turn on. The first one was refurbished, so I wasn’t so upset, the other one was brand new, lasted less then a year. I love the fit of these earphones but the durability is so poor!

Having a similar issue as a lot of people. My headphones won’t charge and won’t power on. When I plug them into a charger the light doesn’t even turn on. This is unexceptable for $130 headphones. I’ve barely used them and now I have a $130 paper weight as a result of nothing I’ve done. Has anyone tried to take these to a local repair shop to have PCB looked at? This seems like a prime example of an issue that deserves a class action lawsuit.

I got a pair for my birthday from my colleagues. Thanks to it I became a gym freak and lost some weight. My wife, seeing my weight loss, decided to get a pair for herself. Cost a lot of money for us in Malaysia. After using mine for 4 months, it no longer charges. My wife’s, after about 6 months, no longer turned on. This bad experience made me never to trust bluetooth head/earphones with irreplaceable batteries.

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS A GO PEOPLE, JUST RECEIVED THE EMAIL FROM THE LAW FIRM https://www.headphonesettlement.com/ Everyone go here and submit your information, you’ll receive at least $25 or up to $50 if you have documentation. Plantronics deserves to lose every single cent they can for an issue this wide spread.

Same problem here. I bought mine 10 months ago and they suddenly stopped working, they charge, I get the red light and blue light when charging, but that’s it, nothing else seems to work. Plantronics won’t help me either. I finally had to throw them away. What a waste… I’ll better stick to well known brands with good customer service. Now I am using my Jabras Active 65T for my quarantined home workouts. These are awesome.

Exactly what happened to me. I played around with the play and other button on the opposite side to the power and it came right. Looks like a sticky button remaining on so the power button won’t work. See how long it lasts I guess. Push the buttons many times to try and free it up.

I have the same problem - left-side earphone control ( play/pause) was ‘stuck’ in pressed mode. Try to push many times, nothing to happens. What can I do else?

Thaaats not encouraging…at all! Almost exactly three months, same spot; waiting to hear from them tomorrow

I bought mines at Costco, worked perfectly fine for only 1 year, cant return them because its only 90 day policy. Left side is very sensitive and have issues powering on/off. Love the product but will never buy again if I dont get one replaced by Plantonics. Still have original packaging

Apparently there’s a problem with these earphones. Some sort of product failure. I suggest do not try to open it up and fix it, it is likely be more complicated to put back. If u can bring it back to the store for replacement. I had mine replaced only to receive new malfunctioning ones, with the same problems. Now I am waiting for them to bring in new earphones from a different branch. All in all, it’s been 3 months of on and off tango with the vendor in order to get new ear phones that are in working order. My advice to y’all, do not buy them, and if u did, try not to fix them yourself.

Just got a brand new back beat fit brand new I charge it but the color never changes to blue from red I left it chargeing over night and it will still be red can anyone help me out.

Is there an image of the battery?

Hello everyboy (I’m french you’ll excuse my ortograph..) I just had the same problem as everybody here. My headphones didn’t want to turn “ON” (even when battery fuly charged overnight) and when it was charging mode, the color appears blue and red in the same time. This problem appened to me just after tryin to uptade de processus with the app’ phone i just downloaded from official plantronics backbeat FIT. So I tri every thing poeple are telling here with no succes. And then, i had the idea to delete the app from my phone, re-download it and try to connect my headphone to my phone. To do that I just puch on the power button until it the red and blue light appears (keeping the power button press in te same time) and suddently my phone app asked my if i want to connect my headphone ! My headphone work again and the app was normaly uptade ! Maybe you kan try it ? It worked with me..

I had same issue with headphones. I manage to open it, checked all connections and finally found the solution for this product. It took approximate 2 minutes from my desk to trash bin. I placed on order apple airpods.

I have the same problem. After 25 months of usage left side play/pause button got stuck in pressed down mode. So, it is possible to charge, but I can’t turn them on. I opened them up and it turns out, that water has accumulated and the whole thing is covered in rust. Not sure I can revive this thing.

Was anyone successful replacing the battery on their own? What type of battery does it have?

My case for my ear buds won’t charge

reset the headset then update them through the app for back beats go worked for me

To anyone with a Plantronics Backbeat headset that wont tun on I found a fix. While holding down the power button, plug in the charge cable and it will reset the device and it should start working again.

Been stored in a drawer for ages (2 years or more) charged OK but no controls. Gave it a bit of a clunk o the worktop a few times and a light dusting of WD40 quickly wiped off. Hey presto buttons free now, I guess I would be bit stiff if I had been in that drawer for a few years. All sorted now. So happy I came across this site.

Hey all, For those who haven’t been able to fix the issue by using the hot tip going - around which is giving the left bud a light tap to unstick the button - then the second step is obviously asking for them to replace it. “But I don’t have the receipt”, then if you haven’t already, download the ‘Backbeat’ app. make sure your buds are paired, then in the settings (at the top right of your phone screen) scroll down and see the headset support button. Your app will assemble an email for you to send to Plantronics so they can help you out with the rest…. most people get refunds without receipts.

the power button is shown.
