Hey guys, recently acquired an Iphone from a family member with a swollen battery (don’t want to risk turning it on) and was wondering how can I identify what model it is without turning it on? (not even sure if it can). Any Ideas? thanks!
Visually identifiable: X: Symmetric bottom Xs: additional antenna slits that cut the bottom left grills short.
Hi Daniel, Pop out the sim tray, the IMEI of the device should be laser etched into it. use https://www.imei.info/ to ascertain which model your family member has. if you do decide the replace the battery yourself, have a bucket of sand at the ready. It’s one of the best things to quel that type of fire. My honest opinion would be to take it to apple. normally they would take the phone from you, replacing it for the cost of a battery replacement.
