Someone stole my laptop 5 months ago. My laptop was recovered by my investigator. I don’t know how to restart my MacBook Air! The person who stole my laptop left a her/his username… Please help!
First I’m happy you recovery your system! From the sounds of it the person using it wiped the drive and created a new user account. Hopefully thats as far as they got. Did you setup ‘Find My Mac’ which was a setting in the Prefs iCloud control panel? Here’s a bit more: If your Mac is lost or stolen from your iPhone or other linked device you can remotely erase it iCloud: Erase your device. Give that a try first. If that failed to wipe the user account then you’ll need to use a bootable OS installer to manually wipe the drive and setup your user account. Here’s how to do this from a friends Mac How to create a bootable macOS High Sierra installer drive The other option is to setup your system in target disk mode and inter-connect your system to your friends Use target disk mode to share files between two Mac computers that way you’ll use your friends system to wipe the drive and setup a new user account. If you can’t get in at all you’ll need to visit an Apple Store with proof of purchase for them to fix things.
