Chosen Solution

My iPhone 4 sim card tray is stuck inside the phone. I have tried to use three different types of small wire-like devices to push into the little hole, but I still can’t get the tray out. What else can I try?

I’ve been trying and searching for hours online to get the sim tray out. none of the solutions I found worked for me. I already messed the sim tray hole up (it’s a Gevey tray, so I still have my original one) I ended up figuring out a solution that no one thought about and it worked like a dream. all what I needed was a screw that I tightened by hand so it won’t go all the way to iphone hole part. than pulled it. the sim tray came out as easy as it seems. I hope that would help someone as desperate as I was before I got it out. good luck.

I’ve just spent about an hour trying to get the SIM tray open. It was closed so tightly I couldn’t wedge anything in there, but finally, success. The solution? I actually had to push the paper clip in much harder than I would have thought. I was trying to finesse it, but it really just needed a good strong and steady push. So don’t be afraid to put some muscle into it. Hope that helps someone out there!

This was tough, but I finally figured it out. Open iPhone, loosen motherboard. put flay tool under MB and wiggle, pust as high as possible but gentle. Push MB away from frame and insert small tool in gap between MB and fram and push on tray till it goes out of the frame enough to grap it with bent wire in tray hole. Work it and work it, what choice do you have. It worked for me.

i found that all the solutions above were quite complicated. however, i found what did the trick was using a pair of scissors. what you do is open the tray as far as it goes. and then using the scissors put it to the tray as if you were going to cut the bit hanging out off. of course DONT cut it. now hold it down firmly but gently, and twist the scissors side to side and pull out. done. it was like magic :) goodluck and all the best. i was nearly eaten alive as it was a friends phone i was using.

I have an iPhone 4 (AT&T) with the exact same issue for 3 months i.e. a Gevey Tray stuck inside my phone and I couldn’t remove it. I tried everything I can possibly try including unassembling the whole iPhone with no luck. I’ve already given up but I tried with a screw as Ron suggested above and it came out as easy as it seems! I unscrewed a small screw from my TV remote and it worked perfectly. Good luck to those who’s still having an issue with it!

I went through some of the tips above. I looked at all appliances/remotes ect trying to find a screw small enough to fit into the hole. In the end it came down to the hook-in-the-hole technique, but I found I had to pull really hard, using the pliers, to unlodge the thing. No damage done, luckily.

I used key ring. Push it hard and the angle will give more strength.

So my sim tray was really stuck, and I mean STUCK. When I pushed a paperclip in (quite hard!) it just would not do anything. So I was struggling with many bent and munted paperclips, trying to snag it to the side of the little hole and pull it out. But the tips of my fingers were getting pretty sore. So I decided to get some pliers with a good grip on something like a nail. I looked around the tool shed for something more sturdy than a paperclip like a thin nail or a very small drill bit. I found a drill bit that was thin enough and tried to use that. I gripped the drill bit with the pliers and pulled. However, it kept snapping off (which was quite helpful because the shorter it was, the more force it could handle!) I eventually pulled the tray out with about 4mm of drill bit that I’m never going to use again!

The correct way to eject the tray without damaging the actual tray. Take a medium paperclip and straighten it out. I prefer the paperclips with the plastic over it. Remove some plastic from the end of the paperclip. About a half an inch. Then curve the paperclip at the very end like a small hook. Remove the back of the iPhone and look between the logic board and the side of the frame. Use a flashlight and take your time. You will see the tray. Gently use the hook of the paperclip placing the hook end towards the outer frame and catch the sim tray. Use the small distance you created from the 1 to 2 millimeter length of the hook and pull it towards the frame. The first line is the frame. Peer to the left where the tray resides. You will see it. The long horizontal line refers to the paperclip. Gently catch the tray inside the gap that resides BETWEEN the frame and the mother board and gently pull right till it pops out. The middle box just represents the sim tray. Take your time, you do not want to damage the mother board. It may take you 1 to 3 tries, but you will get it. | |—-| ——> pulling your tool this way. |————— |—-| | | Happy to help Jason HOTswap Wireless EXPO 4131 Centurion Way Addison Tx 75001 (972) 822-4120 <— If you need assistance or a repair.

Worst case take a really thin paper clip and a pair of pliers and make a little hook that will still thread through the hole but you can angle it to catch on the back side and try to pull the sim tray out manually. I do know my first iPhone 4 the sim tray was just rough to get out period, had to push pretty hard with a firm paper clip to get it to pop out

I manage to got it out by using a small screwdriver and two cutout sheet of paper. The paper is to prevent scratch on the side of the body. The side tray where it has the tiny hole got a little bent, but I manage to straight it out again. I didn’t use cut out sim, it was original from the operator M1 Singapore. When I got it out the sim was undamaged at all which might means it was not the sim that cause the tray to stuck. After this forceful ejection I tried to insert and eject it several times and the tray doesn’t seems to stuck anymore.

@jelestu when the sim tray is in , but not laying flat, just get the needle that you use to pop the tray out and put it in the hole and press , then with your hands try to push the sim tray in,try it a couple of times. It worked with me, good luck

i cut a small right triangle piece of paper and dipped the pointy tip in wd-40 then i slid in the saturated paper and let a VERY SMALL amount pull itself into cracks between the sim card cradle and the phone frame on both sides as it was partially popped out problem solved popped out like there never was a problem

I just wiggle the tray with pull action after that I realize that edge of the sim card is getting caught on the inside of the tray. I just put a bevel edge on all around the sim card and now work. REMINDER» if you a have new sim card my I suggest to pile the all around edge of the sim card. I’ve done this to my 2nd sim card and I don’t have any problem.

Hi u need to total dissmental your phone take out the motherboard then you can easily take out the SIM card

Hi My sim card tray was stuck pulled it out with force two little golden things flew out of the slot. They tray too came out now when I am switching on my iPhone it shows no sim installed. Has someone faced such an experience

I had this problem too, but all you have to do is give some force to it, does the trick! Don’t worry the tray or the little metal piece will not break.

I pressed the pan this pan in the hole and nothing happens what do I do next
