Hi everyone, I have a Magellan RoadMate 5236T-LM. I need to remove the hard drive so that I can fix some corrupted files and get the GPS running again. I’ve already removed the motherboard, but can’t figure out how to remove the hard drive. It doesn’t seem to be a standard computer hard drive. Does anyone happen to know how to remove the hard drive on this GPS? Here are some pictures of my motherboard:
Thank you all very much in advance.
@anfxt I don’t think it is removable. If the hardrive is soldered into the motherboard(you recognize it) then search for the model number at google.com. You will find a chip with more capacity online quickly and might solde(or micro-solder) it. (First ask the compatibility with your GPS) If the hardrive is soldered into the motherboard(you don’t recognize it) then search for an higher-capacity same model at google.com and try to transfer parts (First ask the compatibility with your GPS) If it is connected by a ribbon(you recognize it), search for the numbers on it with and without “ribbon” word respectively at goole.com. You will find a chip with more capacity online quickly and the ribbon and might connect it. (First ask the compatibility with your GPS) If it is connected by a ribbon(you don’t recognize it), then search for an higher-capacity same model at google.com and try to transfer parts (First ask the compatibility with your GPS) If the hardware contain no number: yikes, I can’t advice. Your best bet/last resort will be to go here, look for/open evry guide, look who is the creator(if there is and other 2 contributers thing, click it), open every comtributer and look for the “@name” right below there name in their personal user page, and make a new question here and add their “@names” If this helps please accept it.
