I have a 15” Apple MacBook Pro from 2015 with ForceTouch Trackpad. I was changing the thermal paste for the CPU and I ended removing the black tape that’s around the side of the CPU. The black tape was covering some CPU components. It looks like I need to replace it, but with what? Should I use the typical black electric tape or use something else? I’m in the UK, so if you have suggestions, please let me know. Here is a picture to so you guys can see what I mean by the black tape.
I’m looking at step#9 of the heat sink replacement guide and don’t see any tape. Would you post a photo of what you are seeing. MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 Heat Sink Replacement
You can use the yellow kapton tape in place instead of the usual black plastic tape they put on there.
Thank for you reply, guys. @mayer I’m talking about the black tape around the CPU. From the photo you attached, there is thermal paste on the reflective part, which is the main CPU and iGPU, the rest is black tape that is stuck on around the chip to protect the other chip components. I highlighted into this photo to show you what you mean. I also attached another photo of the stock 4770HQ without the black masking tape, and I drew on it to show you what it looks like with the masking tape.
where i can get these tape ?
