I got a new MacBook Air, 13" Model A1466 for Christmas this year. I have accidentally, cosmetically damaged 3 of my keys. The “Delete” “" and the “return” key. I’m trying to refrain from freaking out because I have no clue if I can repair these keys myself or if I have to pay someone at the Apple Store to do so. If I can replace them on my own, how much would it cost? If I have to go in and have this repaired, does anyone know how much that could cost? please help, Thank you
@alivia before spending money online, see if you have AppleCare. They can replace fix this issue for free if you do.
@alivia - Don’t despair! It’s not that bad! The newer MacBook Pro’s have a new keyboard design which are just god awful !! (MacBook Pro’s 2016 & 2017) The MacBook Airs still use the older design! Which allow you to pop off the keycap and replace that small part. Here’s a vid on how its done: Removing the key caps on a Macbook Air 2011/2012 the correct way and here’s the source for the keycaps: Macbook Air Keyboard Key 13” Mid 2012-2016
