Chosen Solution
I just got an iPhone 7 and I commute via motorcycle Over 100 miles a day. I use a waterproof case that clamps to my handlebars to keep it in so I can view it, change music, etc. The new home button does not work through the case. I know the phone is waterproof and I don’t have a problem cutting a hole in the case if I have to. But is there any way to unlock the phone without taking my gloves off? Or is there any material that I could put over the home button inside the case that would activate it so I could enter my passcode? Thanks
Hi this article discusses this subject, as far as I’m aware it needs skin contact to work. hope it helps
Any glove that would work with the touchscreen will work with the iPhone 7 home button. It does not need direct skin contact. All that is needed is for the gloves to have capacitive or “conductive” thread sewn into the finger and they will work. They won’t unlock a Touch ID enabled device (since it’s not your fingerprint) but it will open the device. https://rideapart.com/articles/best-touc…
Mix a little graphite powder with super glue. Spread the paste on the inside of the pouch at the position of the on-button. Wait until the glue dries completely, as super glue reacts with phone plastic parts. You still have to enter your password to open the phone. Hans
