How To Check The Systems Serial Number Macbook Air

I lost my MacBook Air from my room and my nephew just got one and he scratched out the serial number on the outside. My niece’s husband told me that he saw when my nephew was changing the serial number. How I can know if that is mine? I have my tracker on but it’s keeping saying offline.

There are two other ways you can check the systems serial number: The easiest is just going to the ‘About This Mac’ from the Apple menu. The last line will have the SN. The other is opening the system and taking the logic board out as many have a label on the backside. While the external case’s copy of the SN can be scratched out the logic boards SN can’t be altered from what it was given when made.
