I own an old Rolleicord II. It’s matt screen is quite dirty, so I’d like to clean it. Can anyone help me how to do so? My first approach would be to disassemble the camera until I can remove the matt screen, then clean it with isopropyl and a cotton stick. Is that sound? Are there any problematic steps when disassembling, I have to be aware of? Thanks in advance!

Is the inside of the screen dirty? You could take the camera apart though there are some risks to doing that. Firstly, I’d recommend grounding yourself and your work surface so as to be sure you don’t damage the camera with static. iFixit makes a great kit for grounding your workspace and yourself: Portable Anti-Static Mat For the actual cleaning, isopropyl  should do the job, but be sure to let it fully dry before you reassemble the camera. A screen or optics cleaner could work too

Hello, I suggest you do the cleaning itself not with isopropyl, but with ECLIPSE Optic Cleaning Fluid by Photosol Inc. (you can also use cleaning pads sold by them, recommended). Isopropyl will leave the traces. Clean everything you can with a soft brush, then finish with the fluid. That way, you will have your screen as clean as it was when it left the factory.
