Hello, I have a MacMini 2012 which it’s thunderbolt chip is not functioning. I really do not want to spend money on repairing it. I also have a Thunderbolt display which I was working with it before the MacMini chip broke. Now would you please let me know if there is a way to connect my Thunderbolt display to my MacMini with a adapter from TB2 to Firewire or HTMI ? Thank you
You facing the same issue as having two people who can’t speak the others language. There is just no way for the two to have a conversation! You can’t use the FirWire connection to connect a miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt display. There is just no means to make that work. Your system does come with a HDMI port which you can connect a HDMI connected display. The other alternative is connect a second Mac via Ethernet between the two systems and then use Remote Desktop to then run your apps via the other Mac. Basically, running it headless. Thats what I do to manage my Mac Mini as a media server. Here I run iTunes to download and mange my music, video and podcast media.
