I’ve had around 6 PC motherboards that I have changed over the years. I have all the motherboards with me. The problem with them is that there is a light on the board and the fans turn on when I power up the PC but there is no display. This seems to be a common problem for PC users. I need to know what could be causing such problems and if there is a way to fix it. Thank You

Denver Braganza, all of this will depend on your trouble shooting skills. It would also help if you tell us what kind of motherboards those are, and if you use the same CPU for all the boards. You said “there is a light on the board and the fans turn on when I power”, the light is most likely a 5V power standby light, saying your board receives power. The fan kicking in is also good. Now, I would suggest you try to remove all the RAM and replace it with one known-good module. Then try to restart. You also want to try to use a different video card if you are using to onboard video. Let us know what you find.

There is a problem of north bridge in the motherboard as it is use to give display to the screens . I was also facing problem like that on my asus mb

Motherboard on and CPU hitting or motherboard properly on and no display monitor what problem please sir

First check for bad &bulged caps(capacitors) or leaky ones ,using a ohm meter(if measuring the cap, the needle drops,it’s leaking). Second change 3v battery after cmos reset.(sometimes you need to let board sit for a night with shorted out -/+ and no coin battery in.) 3v coin battery life is about 2-3 years in normal use. Some boards don’t like 2.9v & under drop. I salvaged a few boards using above procedures. If still no boot ,check to see if it wants to read floppy or CD after -power-on. It can sometimes be a corrupted bios ,you can fix from disk or cd. However, listen for bios beeps, it can better determine a issue. If all fails ,maybe a vrm or chip is blown/ short circuited.(more difficult to determine or fix)
