Hi, I bought my MacBook second hand from eBay and got it quite cheap because of the problem with the screen. However, it’s got to the point where it’s extremely annoying, especially as, sometimes, the intensity of the discolouration changes. Is there any way I can fix this myself? There’s no way I could afford to pay to have it fixed. As I bought it second hand, I can’t say why this problem may have occurred. Seller specified they kept the laptop in excellent condition, and I have no reason to suspect otherwise. It was in immaculate condition upon receiving it.
At this point we need to connect an external display to see if the display or the GPU is your issue. If the external display works without any problems then the internal display is broken. If on the other hand, your external displays image looks the same then the logic board has an issue. Update (10/26/2018) OK that helps! So you’ll need to replace the display assembly then.
