Fresh water damage to iphone 5s. Thouroughly dried and battery replaced. Tried through itunes to reset multiple times including DFU/non DFu Always get stuck on firware portion at about 75% complete. I notice that there is a smallwire with gold end not attached at one end near the battery connector (from ifixit photos that appears to be connected to speaker component?) did that come loose? I tried the often suggested hairdryer technique to no avail… Any suggestions ? THANKS Update (08/24/2018) i fixed this: thanks Now things are worse. stuck in waiting for iphone

@dougiedd you’ve got a lot going on here. It is not enough to dry the boards. The water will leave sediments behind that can cause shortcircuits between components. You do have to clean the board properly. Something like this Repairing iPhone Liquid Damage will work. Ultrasonic cleaning would be the best of course. Only after it is properly cleaned and the wire being reconnected can you make a proper determination of what is wrong with your phone. It is possible that this is related to your baseband chip. Sometimes just heating the IC with a hairdryer can restore it (for a bit anyway and after proper cleaning). Post some images of what your board looks like so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.

You have untreated water damage on the 80% Of the logic board that is under the shields, plus you have been sending electricity through this untreated board for a long time. The 5s is very sensitive to corruption of the NAND flash memory from situations like this—that is what your symptoms sound like
