My Xbox hard drive recovery procedure is turning out to be a real pain. After finding a suitable linux script and formatting a new 500 G hard drive i finally completed the three stage offline update procedure to be greeted with a new 2018 dash board. Some remnants from my previous settings and games were still present so I decided to clear out the games and redo a fresh installation. Now the system goes to a black screen. If I press the controller xbox button it displays a menu page with options to Shut down the console or the controller and two menu buttons one for the magnifier and the other narrator. I cant figure out how to go back to the main menu. Any suggestions.
