I am replacing the screen on my daughters iPod touch 4th gen. I need to power it off but the screen is broken so I cannot slide to power off. How can I power it off with out the use of the slide? iPod touch
You can reset it by holding the power and home button together for about 10 seconds. But it will usually turn right back on. You could let the battery die also. I’m not aware of any other way to get it to power off unless you can turn on assistive touch in the settings and use that. But if none of the touchscreen works then that option wont work either. I’ve seen a few iPods that I couldn’t turn off and needed a screen replacement. I usually just do the repair with it on in that case. When you plug in the new LCD it will show all White…..Just do a hard reset at that time and it should kick the apple logo on and work fine. Just be extra careful not to short anything on the board with metal tools or a screwdriver if you have to leave it on. But again, I’ve done many like this when needed and its never caused an issue for me. Hope this helps!
you have to hold down the power button and home button at the same time.
