Hello Friends, I have a problem and I hope anyone can help me out!! Today morning, I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10 and before performing the upgradation process, I took backup of my C drive to other logical drives. But after completing the Windows installation process I found all the logical drives empty. I had installed Windows many times in my life but never faced this problem. Please help. Thanks in Advance.
Hello people: I have done many windows 7 to windows 10 and in the upgrade the install has left all my programs and data intact. With the upgrade as it goes along you have choices to keep your data and apps and continuing installs windows 10 with all your My Documents files intact. It only installs to the same partition so in no way would it look or destroy other partitions unless before the install you extended your c drive to be the whole drive and delete then extend your c drive. Even with installing Windows 7 and before no other partitions were touched unless you did it. I am confused how Windows by its self did this. But looking on the internet you can find recovery software to recover your data with one thing to remember. Do not use or install or even run the computer until you remove the hard drive and use the software with another computer to recover your data. Good luck
If you can plug in the HDD into another computer I use R-Studio. http://www.r-studio.com/ If not I would recommend Active@ http://www.lsoft.net/bootdisk.aspx which allows you to create a rescue boot disc. Please remember that the more you use the HDD that has the deleted on it the more likely that it will be over written. The larger the drive the more of a chance you have. There are free programs out there but these are the two I have used for my computer business for over 10 years and have recovered most data. Also you can use the free HDD imaging software Reflect to image your HDD as a backup once the data has be recovered. https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
