Chosen Solution

The downside to driving a 2012 Rav4 is that the vehicle is entirely centred around its push-button start, which requires the fob to be inside the vehicle and powered. To avoid this problem, I want to add a couple of the appropriate batteries (CR1632s) to my EDC. Problem is that there’s a shortage of containers designed to take a coin battery, and I’m loath to just keep them in a pocket. What kind of containers have you guys come up with to reliably carry batteries, or other small, delicate items, in your EDC?

Lots of small containers will do, depending on how many batteries you want to carry. If you do use a container, be sure to insulate between the batteries. Here is a cheap and easy solution: 1 - Cut a strip of paper about 1/4" wider than the battery and about the length of a page. 2 - Place the first battery on the end of the strip, then fold the paper over the battery. 3 - Place the second battery on top and repeat the process until you are done. 4 - Wrap the remaining strip completely around and cut off the excess. 5 - Secure it with cellophane (Scotch) tape. 6 - Then wrap the tape around the other side, pressing down the extra paper as you go. Not elegant; maybe not even pretty, but it is cheap and easy and will do the job. Regards. Russ Walden
