https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/… I’m in the process of doing a screen replacement for a iphone x but when I separated the display from the phone body, it seems the frame of the display screen remained attached the the phone body. Does anyone know how I can remove the frame? Also one of the small pentalobe screws is stripped and I am unable to remove using all the various DIY techniques (super glue, rubber band).
Ricky JW, The non-removed pentalobe is the reason why your screen separated during disassembly. I would suggest getting a set of these screw extractors or something similar if you can get them locally. Quality screw extractors are lifesavers in situations like these. I have had some OK results by using a soldering iron and some high temp solder. Melt a tiny drop onto the head making absolutely sure to not miss the screw head, then using an extra screwdriver that I don’t care about, stick the head into the melted solder. This will aid in getting the screw out. That last one can be a bit tricky doing the first couple of times, but with a little practice it’s fairly easy and well worth the effort in learning.
