How do you remove the residue that is stuck on the logic board that covers the capacitors and other components on the logic board? I have tried using isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush but the residue is quite hard. Are there any other chemicals or techniques i can use to make this easier?

You mean the black epoxy? Apple use that stuff for a reason, those things are impossible to dissolve using alcohol and toothbrush, you’ll need something like a phone BGA heater and a scalpel. For example this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KPovvMP

It’s called underfill. Hot air station and a blade or sharp tweezers to scrape it off should do it. About 150 to 180 degrees. Go easy so you don’t damage anything.
