Hi All My trusty Epson Stylus SX425W has stopped printing Magenta, I have tried using the system to clean the printheads and have replaced the cartridge but nothing. I have spent all day using cleaning solutions and have used a syringe to suck and blow and still nothing. So my next step is to take the printer heads out and clean them. I know before anyone tells me to scrap it and buy a new one, this a workhorse and if I can fix it I will. So as per my title, I am looking for a copy of or instructions how to take the printer apart and try and repair. Thanks Trebor
Hi, I have just taken apart my Epson stylus SX425W with the same issue blocked Magenta. It’s a real swine of a job to take apart but can be done, when I tested the Black, Yellow and Cyan they were clear as a bell but the Magenta jets are blocked solid, I soaked the printhead in very hot water for 20 mins constantly changing the water and eventually got a dribble of water coming from one of the magenta jets! I then injected print head cleaner in the printhead using rubber tube and syringe and left it for a hour still standing in hot water but no joy, I have tried many other types of solutions but nothing seems to unblock the printhead. I have also noticed a smear / mark on the mirror side of the printhead so my guess is that there may be damage to the printhead caused by something inside the printer catching it. In the end I have now scrapped it, bloody shame as it was a great workhorse printer.
How did you manage to remove the printead please?!!!
