how do I repair my fridge section which is warm My freezer section is perfect temp .thanks
Hi @filipe777 What is the make and model number of the refrigerator? Check that the evaporator fan is operating. The evaporator unit is located behind a panel inside the freezer compartment. The evaporator fan associated with it drags air across the icy cold evaporator unit and blows it into the refrigerator and freezer compartments to cool them both down to the set temperatures. You may be able to hear if the evap fan is operating. It will run as long as the compressor is running but will stop when a door (either door) is opened and start again when the door is shut. (you don’t want the cold air to be blown out of the open compartment). Do not confuse this fan with the condenser fan, (if your model has one) which is outside the compartments near the compressor unit and can run whether the compressor is operating or not. If you can’t hear the fan, if there is a door switch visible in the door jamb, that turns off the light inside the compartments, by manually operating the switch with a door open and then check if you can feel the cold air being blown through the vents. Operating the door switch fools the controls into thinking that the door is shut so the light is turned off and the fan starts again. If still no good, disconnect the power to the refrigerator and remove the panel at the back of the freezer compartment (from the inside) and check if the evap unit is iced up or not and if so is the fan also iced up. If there is a lot of ice there is a defrost problem. This could be caused by a faulty defrost heater (located under the evap unit) a faulty defrost timer (or control board) or a blocked drain leading from under the evap unit to the evap pan under the compartments. If there is no ice then the fan or the fan power supply may be faulty.
