Hello everybody! Just bought a pre-owned Sony Vaio Pro 13 , turns out it has a broken keyboard beyond repair so I just ordered a replacement. After digging around,I reached to a point where I can see the screw holding the keyboard in place, but instead of screws in the other holes ,is something like a melted plastic that hold too . Anyone has an experience with this?
Hi, where did you find a replacement keyboard? Update Can I buy your old one? I only need a few keys.
Hi I would also like to know where you bought a replacement keyboard for a Sony Vaio Pro 13 as well. My letter S has popped out and wont go back in and computer repair shop says need to replace the whole keyboard on this model as metal holders are so thin they are impossible to just fix, but I can’t get a replacement keyboard anywhere. Also Sony Vaio warranty sucks, never in my life had I had so much trouble with a Warrenty, they kep my laptop for like a month before telling me popped out keys are not covered under warranty as this is not due to a defect but due to regular wear and tear. This is rubbish, definitely a manufacturing issue making a keyboard so thin. The key popped out after a few months and no abuse (been on the desk all the time and hardly used). Anyway, of you know where to get a keyboard or how to fix a popped key, let me know too. I’m in the uk by the way so a USA keyboard would be second best as the keyboard is slightly different…
You can buy a keyboard on ebay. go check it out. I think I used the keywords “svp 13 keyboard”. Have the same problem with installing the keyboard. I got myself the metal keyboard that is below the carbon. But Im having doubts after removing the main board. Didnt find anything on the net. Help is much appreciated
And how was it? You had to remove all from inside to get it out and replace?
I could only find a USA keyboard for this. I’m finding it very hard to find a UK Sony Viao Pro 13 keyboard. It seems to have different ENTER size keys. One is double size and one is not. I’m stuck now until I find a UK keyboard somewhere. I guess I could do an ‘alert’ on eBay by keyword which emails me when a certain product comes online.
hi, do you have any success with it?
Hi! I think it is a manufacturing problem. My S key also popped out after a few weeks. Thankfully they replaced the whole keyboard under warranty, but they did tell me that they could not replace individual keys. After replacing the whole keyboard, the S key popped out again after a few weeks. This time I was away from the country so could not get it fixed under warranty again. I want to get it fixed now, has anyone been able to fix the individual key or is replacing the whole keyboard necessary? Honestly I think the metal hooks are now a bit bent so I’m scared to even try buying a key kit…but it would beat paying 150$+ for a keyboard replacement to have it pop out again soon after.
I did replace successfully a whole keyboard on my vaio pro 11 (popped “O” key in my old keybord …). But it’s not so easy.
- I bought a new keyboard(japanese) in YAHOO JAPAN auction.
- For replacement keyboard, I had to do fully teardown my vaio pro, (tweezer was very useful…)
- to peel a aluminium seal (it must reuse later) for revealing old keyboard,
- and to break many rivet for remove old keyboard.(I used pin vice and drill).
- For installation new keybord, I used epoxy bonding and kempton tape. Now, my vaio pro 11 and keyboard has no problem and run smoothly. thank you.
I just ran into the “S” key popping out issue. Unfortunately, I tried pushing it back in and broke one of the L-shaped hooks used to hold the key in place. I need to replace the keyboard now and have found some cheap ones on Aliexpress as tommy318 mentioned. The only issue is that I cannot find a youtube video or any instructions on how to remove the existing keyboard in order to install the new one. Can anyone who has done this provide me with some instructions or post a youtube video perhaps. Thanks.

You might want to try to just push the keys back on the old keyboard from a mobile repair shop. I cannot do it myself but have a guy who does it for me every 3 months or so when a key pops. Seems to also depend how much you type or press on the keys.
