I have Ipod classic 7th generation (late 2009) model… My power port broke and i’m trying to retrieve the files from it. I have taken the ipod apart and disconnected the hard drive and connected it to a 50pin/Zif to USB adapter… I have it plugged into my computer. I then click on the drive and it says that I have to format the drive before I can use it….. Is there any way around this?
Ramone Bills not sure what you mean by a 50pin to USB adapter. I use a Zif to USB adapter all the time. Then I use a program like CopyTrans to transfer the files. The trick here is that your computer may not recognize the drive, specially if it was formatted on a Mac and now you are trying a PC or vice versa. Try a different computer and a different OS
