Hi, I have a problem with an old 3GS. The battery is dead and I can’t start it. It turned off one day and since then I didn’t used it any more because I bought another one. But, I didn’t throw away because I have some photos I want to recover. I’ve tried also connecting to iTunes but without success. So, I decided to buy another battery to replace the old one (not the original one any more) so I can start it and recover the photos. I’ve replaced the battery successfully but …. when I’ve turned it on I felt that the battery is was warm and when the phone starts the battery was at 15% an then in 2-3 min drain completely. Since then is in the same situation like before replacing the battery (phone is dead). Now, my questions are:
- Should I try another battery? Maybe the one I bought was a wrong model (616-0435). Like I said, the old battery was not the original one (616-0432), I saw after I’ve opened the phone. How do I know which battery model is good for my iPhone?
- How can I start the iPhone without battery? I want only to recover the photos, I don’t want to use the phone any more. Thank you for any advice, tips, help.
i would put the old battery to a Variable power supply set to 5.5V, and pump some current into the battery. this will excite the battery and USUALLY allow it to charge. over time the Lith-Ion batteries become stagnent and this can fix that. Usuall takes no longer than a few minutes. be warned, if the battery is bad, it can cause damage to the battery, or self.
