I have a late 2005 G5 that won’t boot. How can I tell if it’s due to the power supply or the system board? When it was working recently I reset the PRAM, …that gave me back my chime… I pushed that tiny button under the RAM and that helped start it once or twice. I replaced the PRAM battery (a different type on this machine…shaped like a nickel and made by Panasonic). I get a yellow light inside, a white one showing it’s on and a red one lighting up inside for a second, but no booting.

If it is still toning, reseat your video card. Make sure your monitor is good by hooking it up to another machine.

I’m not certain how to hook it up to another machine since the monitor has a 1.SCSI connection, 2.Firewire connection and a 3.USB connection. My 2010 MacBook Pro does not have a firewire or SCSI connection. My 2011 iMac has a firewire connection but no SCSI connection. I could take the monitor (which continues to have a little white light lit on it) to the Mac repair place a block away, but I’m not certain they would have any SCSI machine to test it.
