Chosen Solution
I have unfortunately damaged the logic board on my mid-2015 15” MacBook Pro Retina through water damage and the data was not backed up (I know…will not be making that mistake again). I took the laptop to the Apple Genius Bar and they removed the SSD and advised I should be able to transfer the data using an SSD enclosure/caddy. However, I have not been able to find an enclosure which is compatible with the SSD in my MacBook - it is a Samsung AHCI SSD (12+16 pin). I have checked with OWC and this type of SSD is not supported by their envoy pro enclosure. Are there any other enclosures available which would allow me to transfer my data from this SSD, or any other types of solution? I would appreciate any advice - thank you in advance!
Your SSD is likely a custom Samsung blade SSD (AHCI/PCIe 3.0 x4) Here’s the guide to get to it MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 SSD Replacement If you need to salvage your data you’ll need a special case like OWC Envoy Pro - Portable, Bus-Powered USB 3.0 Storage Enclosurefor select Apple Flash SSDs from most 2013 to 2015 Mac Models
