Hello everyone, my name is Rat and I work as a computertechnician. I recently ran into a couple of devices with lcd panel issues. To my surprise there were no screws that held the lcd panel in place. In stead HP opted to use some sort of “stretch release tape”. Upon removal, I noticed that it wouldn’t be possible to reuse the tape, so I’m in a bit of a problem here. I tried finding the same kind of tape online, but nothing came quite close to what I needed. I then stumbled upon this video by 3M: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf84aWV0… This is exactly the sort of tape I would need to do future screen replacements on such devices that have no screws to attach the LCD panel. However, I cannot find a single webshop or website with such tape on offer. Any kind of help resolvin this matter will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Ratje
Hi @ratvanzichem , Have you tried contacting 3M in your location and asking who distributes their Stretch Release Tape 6657-150 or where it may be available from?
I couldn’t find that tape either so i went and bought the 60 pack of Command Poster Strips for under $10. I put one on each corner behind the monitor and i now feel like the reason I couldn’t find that 6657-150 tape from anywhere else, is because it is the command tape and its 3Ms secret to keeping us from buying it cheaper in bulk :O
Hello. I’m SeungTaek, Han of PROFINECHEM Co. in South Korea. We recently developed a product similar to 3M tape. Are you trying to apply it to an HP product? Please provide your email address and we’ll send you the Technical Data Sheet.
Go to LaptopScreen.com and see the LCD screen replacement for HP 14-DK1003DX. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll find LCD Mounting Adhesive (for tab-less screens) which is pre-cut sections of stretch to release tape. The only other place I found is Adhesive Tapes Australia which sells Tesa double sided, bond & detach tape in 50 meter lengths (www.adhesivetapes.com.au/product/tesa-double-sided-bond-detach-tape).
