I have and HTC EVO 4g. Unfortunately I don’t have TEP or a warranty, so I have to get my feet wet. I have watched the teardown, and it does not seem to be that difficult. I only have one seemingly minor questions. What type of adhesive to use to secure the glass to the phone to ensure it does not raise ever again, and how do I remove the excess glue already present on the digitizer?

That would be right here.

Just be careful, I was kind of understanding that it is a display issue with the glass seperating, but I could be wrong. Why else did they stop using the one display and go to another as reported today on several sites like http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/New-EVO-… Goog luck, I am returning and getting another one before my 30 days is up at Best Buy.

Actually, I recently had to replace my evo with a newer one. I much prefer the newer screen. I believe the more “expensive” display you are referring to was the novatek screens, where as the “cheaper” screens are the epsons. In my opinion, while not quite as bright as the nova screens, the epson screens produce a much better color quality. For me, that is preferable in a screen. Others prefer the brighter nova which also seem to have a SLIGHT purply hue to the coloring. Oh and just an FYI, your hardware info number eg. 002 and 003, does NOT automatically tell you which screen you have. There have been both nova and epson screens since launch with both screens being found on 002 and 003 revisions. Just check the android forums or xda. I won’t go into how to tell which you have here, but there are plenty of ways to tell at the other sites.

Use Jet glue slow jell. It isn’t super slow but gives you a little time before it sets. That is, 15 seconds or so. As far as removing the old adhesive, a hair dryer should suffice.

there is a website where you can get all the parts to this phone i actual just cracked my screen.. where sprint wouldnt replace it . Sorry #$$#@$& tried to get me to buy a new phone. But the screen was only 100 bucks on this website.. http://www.repairsuniverse.com/info.html

Check ebay the gadgetfix store has it for $62 bucks.

I found the Evo 4g installation adhesive sold seperately at http://www.durapowerglobal.com/HTC-Evo-4… and the replacement glass screen digitizer for $35
