Hi everyone, I’ve recently got my hands on a Huawei Mateview 28" 4K monitor. It is in perfect working order, apart from a darkened strip across the left hand side of the panel. The panel still works fine and everything is visible, it’s just darker in that strip. Clearly this is a backlight failure - is there anything I can do to repair it? It appears to be IPS panel with a (WLED) backlight. I don’t think the panel supports local dimming, but if it did it looks something like 1 of 28 zones is broken. Of course, I can’t RMA it/etc (otherwise I wouldn’t be here). I’m going to try opening it and see if it’s anything trivial like a disconnected LED? Is there anything else I might try? Cheers!

@kft definitely looks like a burned-out LED. Your monitor most likely has edgelit backlight. Sometimes you can replace individual LED’s but it’s a pain to solder and to find replacements. Most likely better off to replace the strip. The backlight will be in the actual display assembly, so you will have to take it apart. Watch the diffuser sheets etc. Mark them somehow so that you replace them in the original order and original orientation.
