Is the liquid detergent dispenser really necessary? I just moved into a house with a Kenmore washer and that little blue tray insert is missing. I use liquid detergent and have been just pouring into the tray (which I guess is meant for powder if the blue thing isn’t there) and it seems to be washing. What is the point of the blue tray? I looked at the replacement cost - it’s more than $20 - nuts!
