At maximum volume the speaker is very harsh on the listeners’ ears, and at low volume there is audible electronic noise. At medium volume there will be the fewest issues. Chosen Solution The zooming mechanism for the lens is jammed. I think I’ve done something similar on the Minolta/Sony “A mount” Sigmas, so this may or may not work. On the Minolta variants, the trick that often works is to use a flathead to “unstick” the gears if it’s minor. If it’s more severe, you may need to remove the lens mount from the lens, then move it around to loosen it....

Ask a mechanic or a friend to listen, to see if they agree. Each wheel has a wheel bearing, so the sound will come from a wheel if you have a wheel bearing going out.
